A guide to help you choose the metal that's right for you!
All Chic in Gold jewelry is handcrafted from high quality 100% "Made in the USA" previous metals including 14K Gold Filled, 14K Rose Gold Filled, Sterling Silver (.925 with Nickel Free) and 14 Karat Solid Gold (in Yellow, White and Rose Solid Gold).
- Sterling Silver (0.925 with Nickel Free):
When purchasing Silver jewelry you are making a wise investment. Sterling is a precious metal and although the price fluctuates as does Gold, it maintains it's value through the quality of the piece which will last a lifetime.
- Gold
When deciding on gold jewelry a lot of terms come up. The most popular are Solid Gold, Gold Filled, and Gold Plated. It is important to know the differences between Gold Filled jewelry and Gold Plated jewelry when making your choice. Solid gold is of course a most exquisite piece of jewelry. Gold filled is the next level and is an amazing, quality alternative to solid gold. Gold plating or vermeil is the lower level and these items tend to tarnish and can often times turn the skin green. We never use anything less the gold-fill or solid gold in our jewelry collections.
- What is Gold Fill?
It's an actual layer of gold-pressure bonded to another metal. Gold filled is not to be confused with gold plating as filled literally has 100% more gold than gold plating. Gold filled is much more valuable and tarnish resistant. It does not flake off, rub off or turn colors. As a matter of fact, anyone who can wear gold can wear gold filled without worries of any allergic reaction to the jewelry. Gold filled jewelry is an economical alternative to solid gold.
- What is 14 karat (k) Solid Gold?
Pure gold is too soft for everyday wear, so it is alloyed with a mixture of metals like silver, copper, nickel, and zinc to give it strength and durability. Karatage, denoted by a number followed by "k" indicates purity, or how much of the metal in a piece of jewelry is gold. Karatage is expressed in 24ths, making 24k gold, 100% gold.
We use 14 karat (k) Solid Gold because of it's high quality and durability. 14 karat (k) solid gold is alloyed with other metals to make it strong enough for everyday wear. 14 karat solid gold is composed of 58.3% gold and 41.7% of other metals.
